Storm driven wastewater flows create a very unique wastewater treatment challenge as the generate extremely rates of flow in a short period of time. Whether it be inflow & infiltration (IandI) or combined sewer, rain events have always been a challenge for all types of wastewater treatment plants. A plant’s ability to treat storm flows has always been dictated by hydraulic and biological limitations. This paper discusses a new membrane based treatment approach to storm flows for CSO facilities, MBRs, and conventional WWTP.
