A micro-sorbent-based PFAS removal system (AquaPRS) is presented as a cost-effective alternative to traditional granular activated carbon and ion exchange for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances treatment. The system utilizes dual independent filtration trains with 0.1 μm pore size membrane elements and a proprietary sorbent technology specifically engineered for broad-spectrum PFAS removal from various contaminated water sources including drinking water, desalination reject, and remediation applications. Field-scale demonstrations at Department of Defense and municipal facilities treating PFAS concentrations ranging from 20 to 50,000 ppt showed sustained performance over 1.5 to 2.5 months. The approach incorporates sorbent concentration and dewatering strategies to minimize retentate wasting volume, addressing both operational efficiency and waste minimization objectives essential for large-scale PFAS treatment deployment.
